change is happening!

Have you noticed that this new year has started off amazingly well?? It has for us and I am so excited about all of the change that is happening in our life!

First did you notice the hot new look of my blog??? I LOVE my designer Carla, she is absolutely AMAZING and she has captured "my" look once again :) I am into some funky new colors recently (or at least new for me, because up until recently I have been into drab colors..) and Carla found a great way to incorporate them without over doing it! And I have this thing for buttons... so the button flowers are great, and I like how she tied them in!! If you want to check out some of her great work see her HERE. And she has just started party invitations and digital scrapbooks too! Very Cool! And by the way if you are looking at this on Facebook and wondering WHAT the heck I am talking about, check out the REAL blog HERE!

So there is the NEW blog look, then there is the NEW sense of happiness and peace that I have. Our new routine is falling into place, and I have to tell you that the lack of stress is a great thing! I am really enjoying feeling HAPPY again. Who knew? I thought I had got past the point in my life where I got to feel happy, but I was so wrong!!So there is the NEW blog look, then there is the NEW sense of happiness and peace that I have. I thought I had got past the point in my life where I got to feel happy, but I was so wrong!!

So with all of this comes the desire to spruce up our surroundings, or at least in my life it does! For a LONG time now I have wanted to take down the popcorn ceiling in my living room and entry hall.

It certainly was a bad look in my house!

And it was even falling down in places too!

But the real drive behind this project was the desire for a NEW LOOK to my living room. I was really tired of the colors and decor that it has been for the last many years. But it is so hard to find the time to undertake a project this big!

Well, never fear, super foreman was here and decided it was doable and he would help! What a sweet heart.

So last Saturday we let the teenagers run the shop, and us adults hit the house!

We all worked together at scrapping all the yucky popcorn off of the ceiling. Faline and I did ok...

But Jon rock the house on how fast and efficiently he could get that stuff down!

In what seemed like no time at all the ceiling was popcorn free!

Then it was onto LOTS of patching and LOTS of sanding....
thank goodness for Jon again, because I have NOT mastered how to sand the ceiling without ending up with eyes full of dust!

Cleaning up was a big project.... but our littlest helper was a BIG help!

She did great... but I think it was just because she wanted to get onto the next step....

Priming and Painting!!!!

Audrey REALLY loves to help paint! She even has her very own paint clothes!
Could that possibly be because she takes after her Aunt Faline and wears as much paint as the walls do??

Or could it be because she is just so darned cute painting in them?

Anyways, we have been working hard all week on this project and I CAN'T wait to come home from my trip this weekend to see my beautiful new digs! And I LOVE the colors we chose for it too... any guesses on what colors they are????

I could show you now... because the walls are mostly done.... but it would be way more fun to make you wonder and wait and show you the whole finished
project when I get home!!!

Ok..Gretchen...the contractor in us is coming out. Please don't ever scrape popcorn ceilings again without everyone in the house wearing respirators. The popcorn ceilings are full of asbestos.

On a lighter note....can't wait to see the new room color and arrangement. It is always so fun to freshen up a room! I'm guessing eithing something blue or yellow or maybe even red!
