Much Too Young....

I think Faline and I were a LITTLE punchy coming home on the 4th of July.

It had been a long day.
We had been very busy.
It was close to midnight.
And we were still in the car!

The kids were behaving. They were either asleep or zoned out to a movie with the headphones on. And my car has this cool feature where the front seat can listen to the radio or CDS while the backseat has movies on headphones. So we were blasting some easy to sing along to grown up music, belting out the tunes and freezing ourselves out with the windows down and the sun roof open when this song came on....

The bold is the original artists song, the non bold is Faline's adaption as she belted it out...

This ole highway's getting longer (than I ever remember it)
Seems there ain't' no end (smoke stacks) in sight
To sleep would be best, but I just can't afford to rest

(gotta get home before the kids remember to be themselves!)
I've got to ride in Denver tomorrow night
(cuz who knows how crazy I will be tomorrow night)

I called the house and no one answered
(which is good since we are all in the car)
For the last two nights (weeks) no one's been home
I guess she's
(he's) though with me, to tell the truth I just can't see
what's kept the woman
(dog) holding on this long.

And the white lines getting longer and the saddle (seats) are getting colder
(who the heck turned the seat warmers off??)
I am much too young to feel this damn old
All my cards are on the table with no aces left in the hole
I am much too young to feel this damn old

The competitions(opponent's are) getting younger (tougher)
Tougher broncs (stupider know it alls) you know I can't recall
The worn out tape
(CD) of Chris LeDoux, lonely women (for real!) and bad booze
(who the hell buys bad booze, the expensive booze, for real!)
Seems the only friend I have left at all

And the white lines getting longer and the saddle (
seats) are getting colder
(seriously, what is with the seat warmers?)
I am much to (freaking) young to feel this damn old!
All my cards on the table and (they are all maxed out)
I am much too young to feel this damn old!

Lord, I am much too young to feel this damn old!

I am not sure Garth Brook's ever intended it to be sung that way, but belt it out she did without missing a beat to add her own lyrics.... it was so darned funny I was laughing so hard I don't know how I stayed on the road! (yea, it could have been those jiggle your teeth out things along both sides of the road, who wants to drive on those??)
Hope you got a smile or two out of our traveling song :)
